Try a beautiful spring walk through 691-acres called “a museum of trees.” The arboretum was designed by Frederick Law Olsted in 1886. The grounds’ William Bayard Cutting mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the last remaining estates on Long Island’s south shore. Check ahead to see if the park’s café is open.
Long Island has a rich fishing, whaling and sailing history. The Museum is open 10am – 4pm with a large collection of small craft built or used around the island. 9am Friday morning there’s a boat building exhibition on the grounds.
Relax. Just west of Lands End, the waterfront park gives you a peaceful, open view of the Great South Bay between the main of Long Island and Fire Island. There are benches and tables, or if you want to relax a while longer, bring a beach chair.

Meadow Croft is home to an 1800s farmhouse, a carriage house, “auto house,” a caretakers’ cottage and pool. Tours begin at 2pm.
Open Saturday & Sunday 1 to 5:30pm. Loughlin Vineyard is tucked away on the back of the John E. Roosevelt Meadow Croft Estate. Follow the dirt road to the end of the property to the vineyard and its outdoor bar.
It’s a great little brewery & restaurant in Patchogue, a fun little town about 10-minutes east of Sayville.
Another Patchogue brewery with pub food.
The third brewery in this stretch.
If you want to get on the water, the Sayville Ferry gives you options. The ferry is less than 15 minutes south of the hotel. Circle tour: You can do a 50-minute “circle tour.” Just stay on the ferry as it circles through the Great South Bay. Stay onboard as it makes its stops at The Pines and Cherry Grove & get off when the ferry lands back in Sayville. Stop in Fire Island: Or ride the ferry across the Great South Bay and get off in The Pines or Cherry Grove for a stroll (a few restaurants are open this early in the season) - before catching another ferry back to Sayville. Nature lovers: Ferry to Sunken Forest: You can also take the 20-minute ride to Cherry Grove, then walk 1-mile to Sailors Haven and the 50-acre Sunken Forest. It’s a 200 to 300-year old ancient holly forest with rare plants along the beach and dunes of the Fire Island National Seashore. Bring walking shoes. Check the Sayville Ferry schedule below for all times. https://www.sayvilleferry.com/schedule-pines.php
Here’s another chance to stay on the boat on a round-trip ride through the Great South Bay. Or – you can take the 25-minute ride and get off at Davis Park. A great trendy spot. Brunch & Lunch until Dinner begins at 4pm.
This is one of Bob's and Carol's favorite casual restaurants on the water, sitting at the top of the Patchogue River. They also tout their “Maryland Crab Cakes.” (Go easy on them. Bob and Carol like the owner.)
Recommended by the hotel. We’re told it’s high quality food, Medium priced and up.
