Let’s set the scene: Kaleb & Denise had only been dating for 7 months. They went to Big Bend National Park for Denise’s 30th birthday. They were told by the park rangers that the stargazing there is absolutely otherworldly. They made an impromptu evening plan to stargaze on a dirt path in the middle of Big Bend Ranch State Park, where they crawled through the sun roof and laid on top of Denise’s car to watch the stars. They saw a precious little shooting star here and there… until the unfathomable happened: a glowing, bright red meteor streaked through the sky, technically called a “red fireball.” It was the brightest, most incredible natural phenomenon Kaleb and Denise had ever seen. They both erupted in screams of excitement and laughter and both said, “MAKE A WISH! MAKE A WISH!” Nearly 1 year later, after Kaleb proposed to Denise, Denise mentioned to Kaleb, “You know… I wished that you would marry me someday,” to which Kaleb responded with a smile, “I wished for the same thing.”
Kaleb had it all planned-out… in November 2023, he took Denise to the Water Way for dinner and asked her to officially be his girlfriend. So in March 2025, he took her to the Water Wall before dinner and asked her to officially be his wife. She was so excited that she couldn’t stop smiling! Denise is pretty sure she hugged Kaleb about 50x. The photographer Kaleb hired tried taking their photos, but Denise was so distracted she could hardly look at the camera. She kept telling Kaleb, “You just proposed to me!!” He would reply, “I know!!” And they would both giggle and hug, over and over. He proposed with a 130-year-old ring showcasing her favorite gemstone — the opal. They had dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse nearby and for a few hours just enjoyed being engaged, knowledge only the two of them and the photographer had. They smiled and kissed and time stood still between the two of them……… and then the wedding planning began!
