If you’re looking to explore during wedding weekend, the Naples Causeway is a must! It’s a beautiful spot to stroll, grab a bite, and soak in the lake views. There’s something for everyone — enjoy mini golf, ice cream, shopping, and great local restaurants and bars. For those feeling adventurous, you can rent boats, go jet skiing, try out water sports, or even take a seaplane ride over the lake. It’s also a great place to go for a swim or just relax by the water. Make sure to leave some time to check it out — especially if the weather’s nice!
If you’re looking for a local favorite just minutes from the venue, River Tap and Grill in Hollis is a must-visit! This cozy restaurant is right on the beautiful Salmon Falls Country Club golf course, overlooking the stunning Saco River — one of New England’s most famous waterways with a rich history worth exploring. It’s a spot we love to visit often for great food, relaxed vibes, and scenic views. Whether you want to grab a bite before or after the wedding, or just enjoy a peaceful afternoon, River Tap and Grill is a perfect choice!
Seacoast Adventure in Windham is a place Darrell and I have visited many times and love! It’s a fantastic spot to bring the kids (and the kid at heart) with tons of fun activities like a water park, mini golf course, a ropes course, and go-karts. After a day full of excitement, you can unwind at the Deck House Tavern, the attached restaurant, which offers tasty lunch options and refreshing drinks. Whether you’re looking for family fun or a lively outing, Seacoast Adventure is definitely worth checking out!
Morning Glory Diner is my best friend and maid of honor’s amazing diner in Bridgton, Maine. It’s one of the best breakfasts's you'll have & home to the most creative lattes you can imagine. The cinnamon rolls hands down are the best you’ll ever taste, with inspiring flavors that will truly amaze you. Her menu is pure magic, the creativity and flavor she brings to every dish constantly amazes me. The breakfast nachos and quesadillas are some of my favorites. You will thank me later!
If you're visiting Maine, a trip to the Old Port in Portland is a must! This charming, historic waterfront district is full of character — with cobblestone streets, local shops, and endless restaurants to choose from. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood, like a classic Maine lobster roll, or just looking to explore, the Old Port has something for everyone. There are plenty of bars if you’re up for a fun Portland bar crawl, and for those wanting a little adventure, you can hop on a boat excursion and explore the stunning coast of Maine from the water. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon — shopping, eating, and soaking in that classic Maine charm, right by the ocean.
If you’re looking for that iconic Maine view, Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth is a must-see. It’s one of the oldest and most photographed lighthouses in the country — and once you’re there, you’ll understand why. Perched on dramatic cliffs with waves crashing below, it’s a breathtaking spot. There’s a beautiful park surrounding the lighthouse with walking trails, picnic areas, and plenty of space to explore and take in the ocean views. It’s a great place to spend a relaxed morning or afternoon, especially if you want to soak up the Maine coast at its best. It’s peaceful, scenic, and just a short drive from Portland.
Sebago Lake is truly one of Maine’s gems — and Sebago Lake State Park was a huge part of my life growing up. I spent countless days here in middle and high school, and it’s still one of my favorite places. The lakes in Maine are something special, and Sebago is one of the best. If you’re looking for the perfect low-key Maine day, this is it. Pack a cooler, grab some subs from the local gas station, pick up some cheap beach chairs from Reny’s (or borrow a few from the Stofflets or Morses!), and head to the lake for a good old-fashioned beach day — the kind you see in the movies. Clear water, soft sand, pine trees, and that peaceful Maine vibe — you really can’t beat it!
Hacker’s Hill is a well-loved local spot in our town — a place that’s known for its stunning views and peaceful vibes. Darrell and I went here for a picnic date early on in our relationship, and it’s easy to see why people keep coming back. The 360° views of the lakes and mountains are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. It’s a quiet, open space that perfectly captures the beauty of Maine. If the gate is closed when you arrive, don't worry, you can still walk up the hill. It looks steeper than it is, but the walk is totally doable and definitely worth it once you reach the top. Pack a blanket, some snacks, and enjoy one of the best views around.
No trip to Maine is complete without stopping by the L.L.Bean Flagship Store in Freeport. This iconic store is open 24/7 and is famous for more than just its gear — it’s a true Maine experience. Whether you’re shopping for outdoor essentials or just checking it out, it’s a fun spot to explore. Don’t miss the giant L.L.Bean boot out front—it's a classic photo spot. Inside, you can also check out the live aquariums featuring local fish! Freeport is also home to a variety of other shops and outlets, including brands like Patagonia, Nike, Vineyard Vines, J.Crew, and more. The downtown area has plenty of small boutiques and specialty stores, making it a great spot for shopping. Perfect for a quick stop on your way to other adventures or a leisurely browse if you’re looking to kill some time!
