Thank you so much for the love and support you’ve given us in the time you’ve known us! We are so honored to have you be part of our wedding day. We understand that for most of our family, this is a destination wedding, and we are so incredibly grateful for the effort-time, money, travel, etc- that it takes for you to be with us at our wedding. Hopefully this website will cover any questions or concerns you have for the day. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
By matters of fate, chance, destiny, or whatever higher power you believe in, Morgan and Josh both joined a Facebook group called Outsider’s Together sometime in 2022. This group was designed for single/solo travelers to make connections and find travel companions across the world. In October of 2022, the group hosted its first annual Halloween weekend party at a beautiful, massive cabin in the Uinta mountains of Utah. Morgan, just getting back from her first solo trip to Greece, was itching for her next adventure so she bought a ticket and booked a flight to Salt Lake City from Kansas City, not knowing anyone that would be there. Josh had already been to a few outsiders events and had a great group of friends going to the party. Morgan posted on the Facebook page that she was looking for a ride from the airport to the event, and Cierra, a now good friend of both the bride and groom, offered to pick her up. The day before the event, Josh totaled his truck and was suddenly in need of a ride to Utah. Cierra was already driving from Denver, so she offered to give Josh a ride too. After a couple hiccups getting picked up from the airport, Morgan and Josh met for the first time in the parking lot of a Walmart in Provo, Utah. They spent the weekend getting to know each other and (skip this part if you knew either of us as children) one thing led to another in the hot tub, and then Morgan canceled her flight home and drove back to Denver with Josh and Cierra. On the drive back to Denver, they stopped at Strawberry Park Hot Springs in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. With the snow dusted pine trees as a backdrop, Josh asked Morgan if she would try long distance with him. They dated for six months long distance between Denver and Pittsburg with many flights and drives back and forth across the state of Kansas until Morgan moved to Denver in May of 2023. Since then, they've spent their time camping, skiing, and snowboarding, all across the Rocky Mountains with their amazing circle of friends from that same Halloween party.
Months before the actual proposal, Josh started a group chat with forty of their closest friends to plan the big day. There was a poll to vote on when and where it should happen, friends were given tasks such as making sure Morgan got her nails done and coming up with a plan to get her to the mountains on the day of without drawing suspicion. Ultimately, the group settled on March 9th, 2024 at Copper Mountain during Dew Tour. It was a great excuse to get a big group of friends together under the radar. The challenge was then finding a way to get Morgan there. Any other winter, getting Morgan to the ski slopes wouldn't have been an issue, but she was only three weeks post-op from her ACL reconstruction after tearing it earlier that year. Jordan Wood, the now Maid of Honor, had the great idea of trying for an appointment at Melanzana, an outdoor clothing store in Leadville. The problem is that Melanzana shopping appointments book out 6-8 months in advance and there were none available for March 9th. So Jordan emailed them and asked if they would be interested in helping her out. The company was stoked to be involved and scheduled Jordan and Morgan for a 10am appointment that morning, requesting only that they get some pictures of the happy couple after the question. The night before their appointment, Jordan suggested to Morgan that they eat lunch at Copper with all of their friends there at Dew Tour, but initially, Morgan declined, saying it would be fun to eat somewhere in Leadville just the two of them. Faking desperation to see her boyfriend, Jacob (who wasn't even going to be there), Jordan managed to convince Morgan that Copper was the move for lunch. Meanwhile at Copper Mountain, Josh was snowboarding with friends all morning until it was time to get set up. He rode all day with the engagement ring tucked in a baja blast fanny pack. Josh and their friends snagged a table on the patio of the Aerie, the new dining area at the top of the mountain. Morgan and Jordan arrived around lunchtime, with Morgan still oblivious to what was going to happen. They rode the Gondola to the top, where their friend Karyll was hiding and secretly filmed them walking out to the patio. Morgan went straight to Josh, intending to give him a kiss, but he stood and met her, then got down on one knee. At first, Morgan thought something must have been wrong with her knee brace, but then Josh pulled the ring from his fanny pack. He asked her to spend their lives together and she said yes before he even finished asking. It was a beautiful, bluebird day surrounded by some of their closest friends in one of their favorite places in Colorado.
