Technically, we first met a very long time ago in 2005, when Kate was in 5th grade and Matt was in 7th at Tandem Friends School. In time we became friends and played pickup soccer and basketball together, talked about Lord of the Rings, and shared a fondness for bad country music. Thankfully, Matt and Kate stayed in touch occasionally throughout college, catching the occasional lunch at Wayside or playing pickup basketball games at the Tandem gym. In 2017, Kate graduated College and got a job in Boston. That very same spring, Matt was in the process of moving to Boston from San Francisco. We then reconnected and not much had changed! We still got along very well and quickly started going out listening to music, watching sports, and playing plenty of pool and shuffleboard. We went on dates to determine the best food and coffee our neighborhood had to offer, visited Boston's wonderful museums, and watched UVA basketball both break our hearts and make our decade. After a brief long distance spell while Kate got her medical degree in New York City at Mount Sinai, we are now happily reunited and living together in Somerville, Massachusetts, nearly two decades after our first meeting.
Weekend: hanging out with friends +/- at least one sports game and high probability of some live music. Weeknight: reading together with tea, sometimes a puzzle, sometimes a show or movie, and more frequent than necessary walks to JP licks for evening ice cream. Always: plan the next travel adventure for whenever the Lahey Hospital System feels generous enough to grant Kate a vacation.
