South Congress is the perfect way to spend an afternoon, tons of amazing restaurants, and shopping. Visit some local boutiques, grab a coffee at Joe's, get lunch at June's, have drinks on the patio at Hotel San Jose.

Zilker Botanical Garden

One of my favorite places for a stroll. Especially in the spring time!

Statesman Bat Observation Center

Austin is famous for the bats that sleep under the South Congress bridge. Walk over the bridge at dusk to watch our beloved winged friends come out to hunt.

Blanton Museum of Art

Barton Springs Municipal Pool

A magical spring fed swimming pool, right in the heart of Austin. Weather permitting, Barton Springs is a local Ausitn favorite swimming spot.

Texas Capitol

Tour the historic Texas State Capitol building. Tours are free!

You can't visit Texas without enjoying some BBQ! Austin is home to a ton of famous BBQ restaurants. This is one of our favs!

Fresa's - South First

Probably our number 1 most frequented dinner spot! Everything at Fresa's is amazing, but the star of the show is their wood fire grilled chicken and the avocado margaritas.

Loro

Loro is a unique and delicious fusion between asian flavors and bbq. Opened by the famous Aaron Franklin, of Franklin's bbq. Hang the patio with a frozen G&T, and order a bunch of plates to share. Perfect place to go with a small group.

Mattie's

Fancy southern comfort food, at a gorgeous historical estate, just south of downtown. Mattie's has an amazing brunch on the weekends and lovely dinner every night. This place is truly magical, with a large porch, live oaks, twinkle lights, and peacocks roaming the grounds.

June's

June's is a charming little bistro right on South Congress with influences of French cuisine. Dan recommends their Croque Madame.
