So there I was, minding my own business not doing anything wrong and BAM! This girl that lived in my dorm introduced herself as Molly (I had said hi a few times before that but she was definitely making a first move). I responded by dropping my phone which landed face up and showed the greatest sports image ever, Alex Pietrangelo lifting the Cup for your St Louis Blues, she goes “Blues fan, ew but props to you guys for finally winning something” and I’m pretty sure Dream Weaver played in the background like in Wayne’s World, I offered her some fruit snacks and she said no and promptly left. All part of the plan.
What actually happened: I kept walking by a dorm room on my floor and heard a man’s voice say “Howdy” every time. I eventually decided to introduce myself, after what felt like the 20th howdy. Tim was so awestruck that he dropped his phone landing face up and showing his Lock Screen, Alex Pietrangelo holding the Stanley Cup. As a life long Chicago Blackhawks fan, I immediately recognized the St Louis Blues player and felt a mild taste of disgust. I said “Blues fan, really?” and watched as his eyes lit up. I followed that statement up by saying how I am a Hawks fan and saw the twinkle in his eyes diminish slightly. I saw my roommate walk by and we were going to head out for dinner so I said goodbye. As I was leaving, he reached into his pocket to hand me a pack of fruit snacks. It was a little awkward and the fruit snacks were a little warm from being in his pocket for who knows how long, but it was a cute gesture and the start of something amazing. Don’t be fooled, he made the first move!
