The Hay-Adams sits on the site of the former residences of lifelong friends John Hay and Henry Adams. John Hay was personal secretary to Abraham Lincoln and served as Secretary of State under William McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt. Henry Adams was a historian and descendant of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Look for signs detailing more of the history of the hotel in the room used for cocktail hour!
