Our Story

Some people meet and spend years figuring out if they're right for each other. We met and felt immediately like old friends who had somehow lost each other, the conversation easy, the connection real, the chemistry impossible to ignore. Our families had a feeling about us before we did. As it turned out, they were right. Our worlds had been quietly overlapping for years, family members who had studied together, friendships that crossed borders, histories that intersected in ways neither of us had known. Our families had been building the bridge long before we ever crossed it. When we finally met, it felt like a homecoming. We are, in many ways, made of the same things: a love of travel, good food, and the kind of adventure that makes a life feel full. Our feelings about Din Tai Fung, the site of our first great takeout together, and the world's greatest dumplings, are so strong that a sacred pact exists: it is never to be eaten without the other present. Emmanuel has also been known to faithfully climb an unreasonable number of stairs in Jinja to hold Mimi's belongings while she bungee jumped over wild waters. A level of devotion that speaks for itself. Beyond the big moments, there is also the everyday of it. Emmanuel is quietly optimistic that his morning-person habits will transfer to Mimi by way of osmosis. She remains, at this time, unconvinced. He is working hard to convert her into a Manchester United fan. Mimi and Keza, meanwhile, are making their best case for KPop. Everyone is a work in progress. But some things needed no convincing at all, an alignment of values, of vision, of the people we each wanted to be, and the life we wanted to build. We knew, without having to say it too loudly, that we had found it in each other. And we cannot wait to celebrate that with every single one of you.
