One fateful weekend in October of 2015, we both dragged ourselves out of the house to go to a small birthday party of a mutual friend. We have never been so glad to have left the house. Although we had never met through four years at Tulane together, we immediately hit it off. The rest, as they say, was history. 7 years, 3 houses, 2 years long distance, and 1 cute Pitbull named Olive later, we are so happy to be taking the next step in our relationship. Our family and friends have been an important part of our relationship since that very first day, and we are so excited to celebrate our love with all of you.
Mike began scheming the proposal while we bickered on a tandem kayak in the middle of the swamp with an alligator swimming directly toward us. He planned a staycation in New Orleans and told Anna it was to make up for the multiple vacations that had been canceled over the past year due to Hurricane Ida and COVID. Mike planned a luxurious weekend in the Four Seasons with dinner at some of the best restaurants in the city each night. On January 14th, the first night of our staycation, we strolled through the French Quarter after dinner at August. Mike led us to Jackson Square, where he proposed in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. Anna, of course, said yes, and we happily announced to all the bystanders that we were engaged. The next night, we arrived at dinner, where many of our family members and closest friends were gathered as a surprise!
