All guests, please arrive at the Nuncio Garden at the Penha Longa Resort at 11:00 AM. While this is traditionally a women-only event, we’re doing things a little differently and would like to invite everyone to share in this colorful celebration over Mimosas & Samosas (and other Indian street food)! The Mehendi is a quintessential part of Indian weddings. The bride’s hands and feet are adorned with intricate mehendi (henna) designs to represent the bond of matrimony and bring good luck. The Mehendi will be followed by a brief Chooda and Kaleera ceremony – a sweet tradition where the bride receives blessings from close family in the form of bridal bangles called Chooda and the tying of foil ornaments (Kaleera) to these bangles. Once she’s married, the bride taps these on an unmarried girl’s head – it’s our version of a bouquet toss!

Formal Bollywood Glam - Indian attire encouraged, but please feel free to wear formal western/cocktail attire, if you're more comfortable with that! More details on FAQ page.
Mihika's friends & family: Please meet in the Penha Longa lobby by 5:35 PM to prepare for the arrival of the Baraat. Braden's friends & family: Please meet in the Penha Longa lobby by 5:45 PM for the departure of the Baraat. Braden’s baraat will lead into the Sangeet – a night of dancing & dinner at the Penha Longa Monastery. The event ends at 1 AM. The Baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom, where he leads his friends and family to the wedding venue. Once they arrive at the venue, the bride and groom exchange garlands before the wedding ceremony begins. The Sangeet is an evening filled with music & dancing – including some performances by the bride and groom’s close friends and family. The word Sangeet means “sung together,” and originated in Punjab, where, traditionally, women in the household would sing folk songs and dance. These days, the Sangeet has become a much-loved night of fun, music and lots of dancing!
