Tucked inside Scape Park, in the Cap Cana area, this “blue hole” cenote offers a refreshing swim in natural, cool spring waters. Surrounded in lush rainforest, Hoyo Azul sits at the foot of a 75-meter (246-foot) tall limestone cliff covered in vegetation.

This is an hour from Punta Cana but if you have a car or want to book a tour, highly recommend. It is located in Casa de Campo. Altos de Chavón is a re-creation of a Mediterranean style European village located atop the Chavón River in La Romana. Offers great restaurants. If possible, consider staying a night at Casa de Campo - truly beautiful and luxurious.
With its vibrant cultural heritage and UNESCO-listed Zona Colonial (Colonial Zone), Santo Domingo is not only the largest city of the Dominican Republic, but it’s also the oldest city of the Americas. There are day tours available from Punta Cana. If going with a group tour, the bus ride would be closer to 3-3.5 hours, but via car under 2.5 hours.
