Mieko & Mike met at University of Maryland during the Spring semester of Mieko's freshman year and Mike's sophomore year. Their fraternity and sorority were paired up for Greek week and had events every night for one week. Right away, Mieko and Mike clicked, bantering over whether NY or NJ is better (we all know the right answer) and so on . That following summer Mieko & Mike met in Central Park where Mike asked Mieko to be his girlfriend.

Around the 7th anniversary of when Mieko & Mike first started dating, Mieko & Mieko had a concert scheduled at Summer Stage in Central Park to see one of their favorite bands, Mt. Joy, with some friends. Mike took this as an opportunity to propose in Central Park before going on a big Vail family trip to Japan. Perfect right? Well, it was pouring and Mieko was wearing a rain poncho. As Mike is refreshing the radar and weather app in secret waiting for the rain to clear, friends were hiding like National Geographic photographers in bushes and under awnings until there was a moment of clearing. It was then when Mike asked Mieko to marry him and she said yes, of course! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you at Minerals!
