Oktoberfest celebrations are scheduled to take place in the ski valley on the weekend! More so, the wedding platform is suspiciously close to The Bavarian restaurant (blame Kris)... We encourage you to raise your stein, but remember that altitude and alcohol do not mix well. Check back on Taos' event page for more information on the event as the weekend approaches.
You can visit the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge for a stunning view with minimal effort. Simply search for "Rio Grande Bridge" and Google Maps will take you there! The bridge is 15 minutes outside downtown Taos and 30 minutes from the ski valley. Or, you can drive 10 miles south of the town to the Rift Vally Loop Trail (available on All Trails), which is an easy, choose-your-own-adventure trail. You can hike for a mile towards the gorge and turn back, or you can run/ bike the entire 20+ mile trail network. The mountain vistas and river overlooks are stunning!
William's Lake is a stunning body of water that lays beneath the highest peaks in New Mexico. It is a moderately difficult 4-mile out-and-back hike that gains over 900 feet of elevation by winding through thick, lush forests before entering an open field beneath a mountain cirque. If the hike doesn't cause you to lose your breath, the views absolutely will!
