Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Michelle Wen and Ivor Huang
We've included some recommendations for Blanes (homebase of our wedding) and surrounding towns! The great news about this area is that there are so many gorgeous towns along the coast that each offer their own unique charm More about Blanes: Blanes, a picturesque town on Spain's Costa Brava, is renowned for its beautiful beaches, historic sites, and the stunning Marimurtra Botanical Garden (where we're getting married!) . Known as the "Gateway to the Costa Brava," it offers a perfect mix of relaxation, nature, and Mediterranean charm.
Jardí Botànic Marimurtra

Jardí Botànic Marimurtra

Blanes, Spain

Located in Blanes, in Costa Brava, the Marimurtra Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens on the Mediterranean. It also happens to be the venue of our wedding ceremony :) At the top of steep cliffs running along the sea, you can enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views over the coastline and get to know more than four thousand plant species, most of them exotic, as well as several specimens that are extraordinary because of their age or size. Open: Monday to Sunday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Blanes Old Village

Blanes Old Village

Blanes, Spain

Between Sa Palomera and the harbor lies Blanes’ characteristic old village - about a 5 minute walk from Hotel Hortizo! It is home to many fine shops, restaurants and tapas bars. Just a block away from the beach is a daily fresh fruit and vegetables market

Platja De Blanes

Platja De Blanes

Blanes, Spain

Charming beach in Blanes, Spain, known for its golden sand, clear turquoise waters, and relaxed atmosphere. This is the beach right in front of Hotel Hortizo! Stunning views of the coastline and easy access to nearby cafes and restaurants.

Sa Palomera

Sa Palomera

Blanes, Spain

A large rock formation marking the symbolic beginning of the Costa Brava, offering scenic views

Cala de Sant Francesc

Cala de Sant Francesc

Blanes, Spain

Small, crescent-shaped beach with fine golden sand and crystal-clear waters that is right by the Marimurtra Gardens. We visited this beautiful beach when we did our venue visits - stunning cove that is peaceful and quiet!

Castell de Sant Joan

Castell de Sant Joan

Blanes, Spain

This is the one of the most distinctive symbols of Blanes. The castell was built in the 13th century and its perfect location turned this building into a strategic point for defending the city back in the day. It also offers stunning panoramic views of Blanes! Open: 6:00 am - 11:00 pm

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar, Spain

Just 15 minutes away from Blanes, this lively town boasts beautiful beaches, gardens like Santa Clotilde, and plenty of entertainment options. The day before activity will actually be in Lloret de Mar! A unique element of this town is that it has a ton of nightlife.

Girona

Girona

Girona, Spain

If you're looking to extend your trip in the Costa Brava Region, we recommend checking out Girona! Fun fact: Michelle went here on a school trip in 2018. 40-minute drive from Blanes- stroll through its historic Jewish Quarter, admire the Cathedral (where Game of Thrones was filmed!) and walk along the colorful houses lining the Onyar River.

Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar, Spain

Another option for if you're looking to spend an extra day in the area. Explore this charming town with its medieval walled fortress, cobblestone streets, and beautiful beaches, just 30 minutes away from Blanes by car or bus.

Barcelona

Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is a no brainer to visit during your trip over here! There's so much to see and do... attaching a website that summarizes it all! Our favorite hidden gem restaurant in Barcelona: Amandes Restaurant in Ciutat Vella

Sitges

Sitges

Sitges, Spain

Sitges is a picturesque coastal town near Barcelona on the WEST side (opposite direction from Blanes), renowned for its beautiful beaches, vibrant cultural scene, historic charm, and inclusive atmosphere, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. It offers a mix of art, festivals, nightlife, and Mediterranean beauty. We did our engagement photoshoot here - such a cute town. Highly recommend!
