The town of Alta, Utah, has an average elevation of approximately 8,560 feet (2,610 meters). The Alta Ski Area's base elevation is slightly lower at 8,530 feet (2,600 meters), while its summit reaches 11,068 feet (3,374 meters).
The weather can vary A LOT - ranging from T-shirt weather to full on blizzard. Bring layers and check the forecast in the days before you travel to update your packing list!
The ceremony will be outside, weather depending! The rest of the wedding events (dinner, dancing) will be indoors, with access to patio for cooling off from the dance floor shenanigans!
Yes! We love your kids and they are welcome to be part of the celebration. It's completely up to you if they join for some or all events. That said, please let us know if you plan to bring the littles so we can help coordinate festivities and babysitting!
YEP! We will be spending time on the mountain over the course of the weekend and would love to make some turns with everyone! At this time of year, the conditions will be variable. While we can't promise deep powder, we feel certain there will be fun had regardless!
Alta is a beautiful backdrop for time spent doing just about anything! You can enjoy the views from the fireside bar area while playing cards, drinking Alta Bombs on the patio, or relaxing in the hot tub! Or you can adventure out for a walk near the hotel (on the road or with snow shoes) or ride up the tram just down the road at Snowbird!
All meals will be served as part of the festivities if you are staying at the Alta Lodge, but it is never wrong to bring your favorite snacks that are to your liking given there are no grocery stores up the canyon.
The Utah laws are historically (and who are we kidding, up to present day) a bit antiquated, but we promise to keep the coffee and beer/wine/cocktails flowing while you are here, even on Sunday! :) Know that regardless of age, you must show valid ID to be served alcohol, and kids are not allows in bars!
Absolutely. This a wild and wonderful part of the Alta ski season, and we hope many of you will stick around to keep the party rolling into Sunday evening with wigs and onesies and whatever whacky look feels right.
Unfortunately, no dogs allowed up the canyon!
Unfortunately for all the single plankers out there, ALTA is still a skiers only resort. That being said, Snowbird is just a mile down the road and allows snowboarders. And the resorts are connected by a chairlift so you can take your last run of the day right down to the Alta Lodge!
