Cam had been living in Chicago for six years when I moved to the city to start my pediatric residency. I quickly became friends with Sam Bailey, a fellow Michigan alum and soon-to-be matchmaker. At a Halloween party, she had one of those "ah-ha" moments and decided to ask a friend of Cam's if Cam would be interested in meeting me. Cam said, “Why not?” Fast forward to our first date: It took over two hours just to order tacos because we couldn’t stop talking. Dinner turned into drinks, then dancing, and before we knew it, eight hours had flown by. Over the next five days, we went on three more dates despite my busy NICU schedule and Cam leaving soon for a sales conference. We just couldn't get enough of each other! A huge part of our relationship has been sharing our favorite places. In September 2024, we visited my hometown outside of Charleston, and Cam tried surfing for the first time. We try to get back to Charleston as much as we can for more surfing, pickle ball, and game nights with my sisters and parents. In November 2024, we spent Thanksgiving in Detroit, where I went to my first Red Wings game. One of our most treasured places has become Bellaire, Michigan, or “Up North,” where Cam’s family has a cottage. Our first trip together was a snowy March weekend where we hiked Sleeping Bear Dunes, tried local vineyards, and I met his parents for the first time. Since then, we’ve spent many holidays up North, jet skiing (my favorite), and making memories with our families and friends. Bellaire quickly became Cam’s favorite place back in the day, and it wasn’t long before I fell in love with it too. And what better place to get married than "Up North", a place that means so much to us both. We are excited to share this place with our families and friends on May 16th!
