Where It All Began

January 12, 2014

It all began with a right swipe... Our love story began with a dating app. We chose each other on that app, not at all knowing that we'd chosen forever at the same time. We met in person for the first time at Starbucks, where Mike ordered a hot chocolate that he didn't drink 2 sips of, and where he graciously paid for whatever I (Traci) was drinking, which I didn't appreciate enough because it cost me at least a couple Starbucks points. We talked for hours, barely pausing to take a break and talking until they literally kicked us out. We've been pretty much inseparable ever since.

Through The Years

2014-2018

We have been through so much together. We have travelled the world -- from California to Florida, Alaska to St. Thomas, Mexico to Canada, Cape Cod and so many other places in between. We have flown, driven, sailed, and walked countless miles together. We've seen landmarks and beaches and waterfalls and downtowns. I went through three years of law school, took the bar, and became an attorney (twice!). Mike went to the Fire Academy and became a firefighter, his dream career in the city he has forever called home. We supported each other through all the ups and downs. We ate a lot of amazing food, attended festivals and concerts, and went to fire parades (where I watched and Mike marched - except that one time where I took one for the team and marched too!). We picked apples, attended weddings, and went to Army football games. We made countless memories filled with love and silliness and probably a little too much sass. And then .... after almost 4 and a half years of dating...

The Beginning of Forever

June 30, 2018

We got up at 5am. We were exhausted. We had gotten back from my cousin's wedding at 1am, but we were determined to make it up to the Cape for the weekend. So we got in the car and off we went. 5 hours, 4 states, and 300 miles later, we were in our favorite place. We got our favorite donuts, ate some delicious lunch, and spent the afternoon relaxing in the ocean breeze. That evening, Mike said that we should go visit the Highland Lighthouse in Truro. We had been a few times before and I didn't think anything of it since we usually visit during our trips to the Cape. There's a nice lookout point there. Anyways, we got to the lighthouse and as we're walking towards it, Mike says "Let's climb to the top." I protested... a lot. Who wants to climb to the top of a lighthouse in a sundress when its like 85 degrees?! Finally, Mike convinced me to climb to the top. We did, we saw the view, it was gorgeous. Then we climbed back down. We went out to the lookout point and there were a bunch of families there. We looked at the gorgeous view of the water, saw some seals, and we people-watched and quietly commented between ourselves (one of our favorite activities). And then, when all the people were gone, and it was quiet and we were alone, Mike asked me to spend forever making memories together. 1,593 days after I said yes to being Mike's girlfriend, I said yes to being his wife. We can't wait to celebrate our crazy love story with the people we love most in a place that means so much to us.
