Michael and Melanie’s story began with a little help from their coworkers who persuaded them to sign up for online dating. Neither of them knew that a simple swipe would soon lead them to the greatest adventure of their lives. What started as casual swiping soon became something more when they matched and began texting. Michael was drawn to Melanie’s love for travel and her adventurous spirit, while Melanie couldn’t help but smile at Michael’s goofy photos and playful personality. Their conversations came easily, filled with laughter and curiosity and it wasn’t long before they knew they wanted to meet in person. Their first date took place on February 5th, 2020. What was meant to be a simple boba stop at Bee and Tea quickly turned into an unforgettable evening. The date went so well that they decided to continue it with dinner at Goen, followed by a spontaneous trip to Target, wandering the aisles, talking, and enjoying each other’s company. That night marked the beginning of a connection that felt natural, comfortable, and full of promise. Melanie officially became Michael’s girlfriend on July 18th, 2020, and as time passed Michael realized that he had to figure out how to propose to her in a way that would be meaningful.

Michael admired Melanie’s love for puzzles and thoughtful challenges, so he found a creative way to propose to the love of his life. Michael planned a scavenger hunt just for Melanie. One that would take her back to meaningful locations from their first date. Michael made sure the scavenger hunt took her to a few other places in Kailua just to make she remained unaware of the surprise that would take place. And although Bee and Tea had closed, the memories remained, and the journey led them to Goen, where their friends were waiting to celebrate their love. It was a moment filled with joy, laughter, confusion, and gratitude for how far they had come together. Now, as they look ahead to the future, Michael and Melanie are excited to to begin the next chapter of their story. They can’t wait to celebrate love, friendship, and the beginning of forever with all of you.
