Yep. The ski area at Granby ranch is a great place to teach them to ski, or let them go explore since all the runs come down to the base.
Currently, we are registered at REI (go to the link at below) ... We are also registered through zola.com. You can purchase directly through Zola and they will ship it to us when we are back home and available. FYI- If you contribute cash through Zola there is a credit card safety transaction fee of 2.5% Here is the direct link to REI registry -and yes, I tried to be sneaky, by adding it as an item on the zola registry... =D https://www.myregistry.com/rei/wedding-registry/michael-mcdonald-and-kimberly-white-norman-ok/2252679)
If you would like to go downhill skiing at Granby Ranch before the wedding, but you don't know anything about skiing, you can meet Michael at the base of GR at 8:30a Sat. to get enough instruction to feel comfortable getting on the snow and lift. The milestone lift is a cheaper pass FYI and plenty of space to learn the basics. Lifts open at 9am (I was told to pass on "no friends on a powder day"). If you would like instruction for Nordic Skiing at Grand Lake Nordic Center and you have never been on nordic skis (it's like walking) Kim will give a quick intro beginner lesson at 9:00 in Grand Lake. Once the lessons have been given, Kim and Michael will be free skiing until about 10:30am, so if you already know how to ski and just want to meet up for a lap, please join us! Make sure to have your equipment rented and ready to ski for the lesson start time :)

Then skiing will be more fun! Bring warm clothes and snowshoes if you don't ski... or rent some. Here is the average weather for March 1... which is Feb 29th any other year. :) https://weatherspark.com/m/3566/3/Average-Weather-in-March-in-Granby-Colorado-United-States
We will be serving up a round of drinks and appetizers after the Ceremony. There will be a few hours for you to explore the town and eat dinner before we meet up for fun at Silver Creek club and/or hot tub.
If you are going to be in town on Friday and you wanted to go downhill, I would go then to get the most bang for your buck and then meet up for the apres ski on the west side of winter park. Nordic skiing is not something that most people to all day... usually this activity is like a hike, so anywhere from 30min. to 3 hours max.
