Like most modern love stories, we met on a dating app- Bumble (for all our single friends out there still looking). We instantly connected over the fact that we both had posted a photo from our time volunteering in Africa- all to find out both photos were taken in Rwanda, just a year apart. On our first date, we discovered that we both had also spent half the year living in Andalucia, Spain, just a few years apart. Our fates were sealed when Michael quoted Grandpa Callegari's favorite quote, "Drive for show, putt for dough," securing a second date of mini golf- where Christina sunk a hole in one on her first putt. It didn't take long for us to realize that in addition to all the small things, the things most important to us, our faith, values, dreams, and desires all aligned. It's hard to believe that after growing up in the same county all our lives, traveling across the world to the same countries, and living only 2 miles apart when we met- that it took a little help from technology for our two worlds to finally collide!
On July 1st, 2019, at a charming winery in Tuscany, sitting on a swing, with a beautiful Tuscan villa and cypress trees in the background, Michael got down on one knee and asked Christina to marry him. It was the easiest decision we've made thus far.
