....and it was wonderful. What we thought would be drinks after work turned into appetizers, dinner, dessert and two people sitting at barstools while the restaurant closed down, trying really, really hard not to let the evening end. So we made plans for our next date and things kept going really, really well.
It was magical. In August of 2019, we, along with Mikayla's Dad, set out to spend a few days hanging out in Yosemite before hiking a section of the John Muir Trail. On August 7, after a day spent hiking and hanging out by the river, Micah (rather quickly) led us to a deserted beach on Mirror Lake at sunset as the light slowly faded on the wall of Half Dome. We were sitting on the beach, enjoying our snacks and looking out over the water when Micah got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his backpack. We got engaged and it was perfect! Did we mention that Micah had arranged for Mikayla's Mom to fly out and join us in Yosemite Valley specifically for the proposal? We spent the next week exploring Tuolumne Meadows, hiking the John Muir Trail and soaking in every hot spring along the way.
2016 We met, we fell in love, we frequented Worthy Burger and we hiked, a lot. We got our first Christmas Tree (it fit in a wine bottle) and we most certainly did NOT get lost on Mt. Tom; even if Micah says we did, we did not. 2017 Mikayla spent her summer working in National Parks and living in Colorado while Micah spent his in Military trainings and doing Solar Research & Development in Vermont. We didn't like this distance very much so in the Fall, we moved into our first home together in Norwich, VT! We cooked a lot of food, hiked a lot of hills, skied on a lot of slopes and had a very good time. 2018 We hosted dozens of AT thru hikers, ate a lot of cheese plates and discovered so many new swimming holes. We went backpacking and biking, bopped around Acadia National Park and explored New Orleans, moved to the best cabin NH with a full quartz fireplace, planted a rooftop garden and got the most amazing Christmas Tree that would go on to last until Valentines Day 2019. 2019 Micah became a full-time college student, we cooked 100 new recipes, splashed in the Atlantic and Pacific in the same week, explored San Francisco and Yosemite, got engaged, finished backpacking the John Muir Trail, played a lot of board games and smiled so much. 2020 We spent A LOT of quality time together, and it was awesome. Micah graduated from VTC and started at UVM, Mikayla ran Allis State Park and we had our most successful garden ever. We spent the summer enjoying the sunshine and really getting to know our corner of the world. We grew to love Allis so much that we decided to get married here so all of you can see it too! 2021 We're finally getting married! (Other stuff happened too, but this is the best!)
