Our wedding celebration is in downtown Salt Lake City. We suggest that you find a spot close to downtown. Liberty Park area is super cute and walkable (we live there!). Some other great neighborhoods are Sugarhouse, South Salt Lake, and the Avenues. If you want to stay closer to the mountains, we would suggest looking at Millcreek and Holladay closer to the mouth of Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyons.
