We're getting married!

Melissa and Luis were neighbors for 4 years and never really talked to each other. Then, on May 5, 2007, Melissa and her mom were invited to his birthday party. Although it was his party, he pulled up a chair and sat next to her for most of the night. After talking for hours they began texting and hanging out and quickly became friends. They were friends for a year before they started dating.

Luis and Melissa started dating after her graduation party in May 2008 and they became boyfriend and girlfriend on 7/23/08, shortly before she went off to Princeton. The next four years were difficult, with being long distance, but Luis and Melissa knew they belonged together and she moved back to San Diego upon graduation to be close to him.

After dating for 9 years, Luis proposed during Melissa's birthday party with the help of their puppy Marleen. Marleen ran across the house wearing a t-shirt that said "Will you marry my dad?" in front of Melissa's mom and a few close friends. After all the crying, hugging, and her saying yes, Luis and Melissa cannot wait to get married and spend the rest of their lives together.
