Melissa and Brett first met at their friend Jess’s house. They hit it off right away, joking around and bonding over their shared love of video games. Melissa was sure Brett must have a girlfriend — she couldn’t imagine someone like him wasn’t already taken. Luckily for her, he wasn’t, and the rest is history!

Brett had been wanting to ask Melissa to be his girlfriend, but was under the impression she wasn't ready for that. Melissa, unaware of this and growing impatient, finally asked: “Are you ever going to ask me to be your girlfriend?”

Brett had been unusually quiet one evening, and Melissa could tell by the nervous look on his face what was going to happen next. Sure enough, Brett said "I love you", and Melissa responded with an excited "Really!!"

Melissa and Brett had been wanting a puppy for ages and decided it was finally time. Chester has been a joyous addition to their family, and despite those innocent puppy eyes, still manages to get into trouble quite often.

While Brett wanted to pick the ring, Melissa had "a few" criteria it had to meet. After reviewing her 11-page, double-sided document - complete with tables and color coding - Brett decided it would be easier to let her choose.

Getting Melissa out of the house is never easy, so Jess booked an escape room one Friday night and convinced her to go. As they worked through the escape room, Melissa opened a cabinet for the next clue and began reading off instructions, completely ignoring the envelope inside. After Jess pointed her in the right direction, she opened the envelope. While the letter inside the envelope read: "Melissa, will you marry me?", she had only seen her name at the top, and began wondering what a strange coincidence it was that the escape room had used her name as part of a clue. Oblivious to the situation, she turned to tell her friends about this strange discovery and saw Brett on one knee. Finally understanding what was happening, she excitedly said, "Yes!" The night wasn't over. When they arrived back home, an excited Melissa called out to Chester to greet him, and was met with all their friends yelling "Surprise!" - ready to celebrate with them!
