Meg and Ryan met online, like so many do these days, with the dating app Hinge. Ryan opened the conversation with a punny joke about her profile picture of her lying inside a snowy log, saying “It’s a log brrrrito.” Despite being a fan of puns and dad jokes, Meg missed the spelling of brrrrrito entirely. She responded anyway, because Ryan was her perfect, red bearded man come to life. They had their first date days later which lasted for over 5 hours. They took a stroll around a lake, Meg taught Ryan how to lose at the card game, Rummy, while drinking local brews, and then they walked to the restaurant next door for dinner. Despite some of Meg’s hesitation at how different they were, they had their second date the very next day, kayaking on the lake followed by Ryan making stuffed crust pizza from scratch (even the dough!). After dinner, Ryan serenaded her with Tenacious D songs on his guitar. Meg was ready to marry him that night. They quickly found they had more in common than Meg originally thought, bonding over a shared love of music, finding humor in any situation, and constantly learning about anything and everything. Today, their days are filled with morning crosswords, trying to keep their dog, Nutmeg, alive despite her insistence on eating non-food items, mutually mixing up entire words while speaking, learning songs they can sing and play together, and disagreements where they realize that they are arguing the same side after about 10 minutes.
