The closest airport to Florence, approximately 15 minutes by train. If you take a flight here, you will have a layover and have to switch planes.
Train
If you fly into Rome, you will need to take a train from the airport to the main train station in Rome, Roma Termini. The Leonardo Express takes you directly to Roma Termini.
Train
From Roma Termini, you can take the Italian high-speed train, Freccia Rossa, to Florence. It is about a 1hr 30min ride. You can also use Freccia Rossa to travel between other cities in Italy.

If you fly into Florence, you will need to take a tram from the airport to the main train station in Florence.
