Megan and Clinton met through mutual friends in Houston, Texas in 2015. With Clinton being from Knoxville, Tennessee, and Megan being from Los Angeles, California, they both moved to Houston without knowing what it would bring them and how their lives were about to change! Megan was singing in Yevgény Onégin with the Houston Grand Opera when she first laid eyes on Clinton; and believe it or not, it was music that ultimately connected the two. On their first date at their favorite bar, Julep, Clinton told Megan that he was a big classical music fan. Having heard this a lot, and not quite believing him, Megan said teasingly, "Oh really? Who are your favorite composers?" Clinton immediately responded with "Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, and Britten." Megan was taken aback by this, and they both knew that this was the beginning of something very special. After that night, Megan and Clinton continued to bond over music, adventure, traveling, cooking, and their two dogs Smoky Bear and Cowgirl. The rest is history!
Clinton proposed to Megan in her favorite place, Lake Arrowhead, California. Covid-19 had altered his original plan to propose in Lake Garda, Italy (which was the spot of their first big travel together as a couple). Clinton quickly changed gears and started to plan what would become their most meaningful day. Clinton surprised everyone, even Megan (this was especially difficult because both Megan and Clinton were quarantining with the Samarin Family at the time). He was even able to quietly visit the family jeweler with Megan's Father, Michael John Samarin. Clinton told Megan they would be spending a weekend together in Lake Arrowhead and she was over the moon to visit the lake! The two spent the day drinking rosé on the dock and watching the sunset over the water. When Megan and Clinton got back to the cabin, they lit a fire and began to cook a beautiful dinner together. When Megan came outside, Clinton had transformed the patio, completely covering it in tons of candles. They sat down underneath the stars and the rest is an extremely happy blur. YES.
