There are lots of incredible sights to see and activities to enjoy throughout the Commonwealth, many of which are on the way from the airport to Charlottesville! If you're thinking about coming in a few days before the wedding or staying a day or two longer, there is lots of fun to be had. Want a recommendation for restaurants, wineries and/or activities? Check out the "Things to Do" tab on our wedding website. Looking for more options? Just ask Billy or Megan!
Regularly, but it doesn't have to be too often. We will be adding more details as they are fine tuned -- transportation from hotels to venue; adding to the list of "Things to Do"; and details on wedding weekend activities (like the welcome happy hour). If you check back a few times over the next couple of months, you should be all set!
Possibly, depending on where you’re flying in. It could be useful if you’re flying into Charlottesville and you want added flexibility, and it is necessary if you are flying in outside of the area. There is a small regional airport in Charlottesville, but arranging a flight into it can be significantly more expensive than flying into Richmond or one of the airports in northern Virginia (Reagan and Dulles). Rental car rates are generally pretty low out of Richmond Airport, and it is a pretty short (about 60 miles) and scenic drive from there to Charlottesville. Coordinating travel with other guests is a good way to lower costs per person, and Billy is happy to help coordinate ride sharing if you'd like to see if anyone else is arriving at a similar time as you. There are lots of good options, so do what works best for you :)
Yes! We have two blocks in two lovely Charlottesville hotels, both close to things to do in the downtown area. See the "Travel" tab on this website. Want a recommendation for other hotels? Just ask Billy or Megan!
The attire for our wedding is formal. This is an opportunity to dress up! Evening dresses or dressy suits for ladies and suits for gentlemen are strongly encouraged (tuxedos not necessary).* *Exceptions: Iowa Hawkeye (because GO HAWKS!) jerseys or apparel complementing formal wear is perfectly fine.
Yes! Keep an eye on the "Schedule" tab on this web site as we will continue to add details and events to it in the coming months. There will be a welcome happy hour the night before the Big Day where everyone can come say hi to Billy and Megan, meet the wedding party and other guests, say hi to familiar faces and introduce yourselves to new ones. All are strongly encouraged to stop by! More details on fun to be had will be posted soon!

While we certainly get a kick out of spending time with the youngest members of our families and friend groups, we also recognize that “grown-ups only” is a fun way to do weddings. We’re asking that you have a night out—leave the kids with Grandma and Grandpa, or grab a sitter—and join us for adult beverages and sick dance moves! Teens are welcome and have been included in our head count. If you’ve got questions, please reach out to Megan and Billy.
Yes! Megan and Billy are registered at Zola, Target, Crate & Barrel, and Honeyfund. Links to each of these sites can be found under the “Registry Info” tab. There you will find two pages, one for our Zola Registry” and one for our three “Other Registries.”
You heard it right. We want this to be fun for everyone and that means not having to worry about a long taxi/Uber ride or having to drive (especially on country roads at night). Coach buses will transport all guests from the hotels (where the room blocks are) to the venue. Buses will be departing Courtyard Marriott at 3:15pm sharp, stopping at the English Inn at 3:25pm, and heading for Keswick at 3:30pm, arriving at 3:59 pm so that you have plenty of time to walk the grounds and find your seats. Buses will then return to the hotels (reverse route) at 10:15 pm, giving all plenty of time to get to AFTIES (yay!) on the Downtown Mall should they desire. If you want to ride the bus but are not staying at either of the hotels where we have reserved blocks, please make sure that you are at the the hotels prior to 3:15 (Courtyard) or 3:30 (English Inn). Have additional questions? Talk to Billy!
