All of our wedding activities except for the ceremony and reception will be in the Old Town Alexandria area, so we recommend you stay there! It's charming, historic, and easily accessible to DC if you want to head in for a few hours. Check the travel page for information on our hotel blocks in Old Town.
In ranked order by proximity to "wedding central" in Old Town Alexandria: 1. Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) - by far the closest and most convenient option; 3 stops on the metro or a 10 minute Lyft 2. Washington Dulles (IAD) - pretty far out but newly on the metro line so still a good option if significantly cheaper; 22 stops on the metro with 1 transfer or a ~45 minute Lyft 3. Baltimore (BWI)- technically an accessible option but it's a significant trek; 1 MARC train to Union Station in DC and then 11 stops on the metro with 1 transfer.
Yes- transportation will be provided from the Old Town Alexandria area to the venue in Vienna, VA and back again. Buses will depart the Embassy Suites Old Town at 3:00 on the day of the ceremony. We will have shuttles departing the venue to return to Old Town at 8:45 PM and 10:00 PM. Please note shuttle pickup at the Embassy Suites is on the Duke Street Entrance at the turnaround: 1760 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Yes. We are providing transportation but if you choose to drive yourself there is ample free parking available.
Probably not. While ultimately up to you, parking can be difficult and/or expensive and everything planned plus all that DC has to offer will be walkable or accessible by public transportation (which is pretty safe in the area.) The only exception will be the ceremony and reception, which will have provided transportation.
Fancy garden party (or "cocktail" if you want a formal definition.) For women, that could mean midi or cocktail dresses and nice shoes. For men, a suit and optional tie. Color and patterns are welcome!
Yes! Kids are invited to share in the celebration with us if you'd like to bring them. One note- the venue itself is not what we'd call childproof. There are a lot of plants and a small indoor stream so please plan to keep an eye on any children where this might be a problem!
Nope! We know many of you are traveling a long way and would likely want some time to explore DC, so are keeping our planned events pretty light. If you need ideas on how to spend your weekend, check out our "Things To Do" section.
