Please don’t! We’d love our guests to be dressed in their Sunday best for gorgeous photos to last a lifetime. There will be some shade and fans during the ceremony, and the reception will be indoors.
Please let us know if you’ll be able to attend by June 1st. The headcount directly impacts what we pay our vendors, how we prepare tables, and how much food to provide.
Nope! That’s expensive, and we don’t even drink. We’ll be providing tickets to pay for your first two drinks (alcoholic or not), and the caterer will provide water, tea, and lemonade at no cost. Otherwise, there will be beer, wine, and cocktails available at a cash bar.
Yes! There is free parking available directly outside the venue. There is a high capacity for cars, but consider carpooling and electing designated drivers.
The venue is about 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City, but we don’t recommend looking for places to stay near it. The venue is located in Independence, Missouri in a safe neighborhood. However, Independence is home to a wide variety of neighborhoods that may not be so friendly. We recommend sticking close to downtown for convenience and coordinating some carpooling to the venue. No drunk driving!
Kansas City International (MCI) is the major airport closest tot he venue. However, if you're flying internationally, many guests have found that flying into MCI can make your ticket way more expensive! If you're feeling spunky, you can fly into Chicago (either ORD or MDW) and rent a car to drive the remaining distance. Note that's a 7-8 hour drive after your flight! But I know for families and groups, that's a lot of savings!
Well MCI airport in northwest of Kansas City, we live northeast of the city, and the venue is directly east of the city. See the Travel tab for the two hotels with courtesy blocks reserved; one suggestion is in central Kansas City, if you prefer public transport to see the sights. The other suggestion is a nice place to stay near us, if you intend to rent a car. It's not a particularly interesting part of town, but it is slightly closer to the venue and less than 5 minutes from our place.
If we're expecting you to bringing a plus one, it should be listed on your invite. If not, give the couple a call to coordinate. It's probably not an issue, but we definitely need to know for the caterer.
Children are definitely welcome! Please include them in the headcount. There will be a kid’s meal provided of chicken tenders and mac and cheese for kids under 12. If you need to bring milk or baby food for your infant, please coordinate with Megan, as the venue doesn’t usually allow outside food and drink.
