Cayucos is the location of Devin and Laura's wedding! It's a small beach town along the Central Coast. From dining and antique shopping in downtown Cayucos to pier fishing, hiking, laying out at the beach, and surfing, Cayucos is a relaxing coastal escape with laid back charm.
On your way to Morro Bay, you can’t miss Morro Rock, one of the most iconic landmarks in the area. While wandering around the bay, chances are good you’ll encounter otters swimming and lounging in the bay. Hit the dockside to find the Embarcadero filled with unique shops, art galleries, family-friendly activities and delicious seafood restaurants! You can also get out on the water with excursions like whale-watching tours, sunset dinner cruises, fishing charters, kayaking, sailing, kite-flying, biking, stand-up paddleboarding and world-class surfing. While in college, Devin and Laura spent time visiting Morro Bay, and loved kayaking, eating seafood, and walking around the Embarcadero.
Spend some time in San Luis Obispo — long celebrated as one of the Happiest Places in America. San Luis Obispo has a walkable downtown filled with historic architecture, the beautifully restored Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, and fun restaurants and bars. On Thursday nights, San Luis Obispo offers one of the best Farmers Markets in their downtown! Other activities in San Luis Obispo include hiking, visiting California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo (this is where Devin and Laura went to college, and met!), and visiting wineries and breweries. San Luis Obispo is truly one of the happiest places on earth, and holds so many special memories for both Devin and Laura. We hope you spend some time in San Luis Obispo and get to know the area. Devin and Laura will be heading out to the Farmers Market on the Thursday night before the wedding if you'd like to join!
Los Osos is home to the majestic Montaña de Oro State Park. Montaña de Oro is defined by its rugged cliffs, tucked-away sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, with spectacular scenery produced through millions of years of volcanic activity, plate tectonics and erosion. Montaña de Oro is perfect for campers, hikers, and bikers! Spooner’s Cove, a beloved Montaña de Oro beach, is ideal for get-togethers, families, or sunbathing. The area is also known for its Tide Pools! Devin and Laura spent many days exploring Montaña de Oro while in college, and it is one of their favorite spots to get away and spend a day in nature!
Take a drive along Scenic Highway 1 to experience Big Sur! Devin and Laura find Big Sur to be one of the most beautiful and majestic places on earth. Although it is a bit of a drive north, you cannot beat the scenery. The views, redwood forests, hiking, beaches, and other recreational opportunities have made Big Sur a popular destination for visitors from across the world.
While in San Simeon, experience Hearst Castle! In its heyday, Hearst Castle hosted celebrities―from Charlie Chaplin to Greta Garbo―as well as journalists, entrepreneurs and politicians like Calvin Coolidge and Winston Churchill. Hearst Castle is now State Historic Monument, known for its grandeur. In addition, San Simeon boasts the largest free viewing area of Elephant Seals in California. One of the most entertaining attractions, the Elephant Seal Rookery is where pods of northern elephant seals come ashore.
Paso Robles is known for its rolling hills and wineries. A community of cowboys and innovators, it's where world-class food, wine and art meet small-town charm. Wine tasting is a must in this region!
