I’d say more along the lines of semi formal. We’ll be right by the water in early May. If you are usually cold, bring sweaters, cardigans, jumpsuits, scarves, whatever you’ll be comfortable in. There can be space heaters if necessary.
Not at all. It is definitely a Wednesday. Better availability for majority of our guests and easier for those coming out of state to book places to stay during the weekdays vs the weekends. This is especially true in the month of May, where it has at least 3 major weekends every year, making town very lively but also extremely busy! Be careful because it’s the beginnings of Leg 4 of Ocean Race in town! They’re arriving this week from Itajaí. https://www.theoceanrace.com/
Better to Uber/Lyft to and from things to do. Lots of downtown is walkable on its own but be aware there are a lot of cobbled roads on main roads around Washington Square. There are also a lot of pedicab drivers who are mostly posted at the top Bannister’s Wharf where it meets America’s Cup Avenue. They work with only gratuity. There are parking meters and several parking lots, just know that the lots can be a bit pricy. The parking meters vary with the time of year. Metered parking is in effect from May 1st through October 31st. On-street metered parking is located on specific streets throughout downtown Newport and along Memorial Blvd. at Easton’s Beach. Parking at an on-street metered space is limited to a maximum of 3 hours and the rate is $1.25 per hour. The meters located on Memorial Blvd. near Easton's Beach are $2 per hour. The meters run from 9am-9pm. Hammetts Wharf parking: Valet parking with unlimited in/out privileges is available on our property—a real perk during busy seasons in Newport! Parking is $25 per day from November 1st to April 30th and $45 per day from May 1st to October 31st. Starting December 1st, parking will increase to $30 per day.
