An orange cat named Jorts fell into a trashcan and ended up covered in butter. He then became an advocate ("advo-cat") for safety in the workplace and the rights of workers, and the rest is history... Scott and Lindsay were both on a dating website after both moving to Denver in 2021, and Scott shared the story of Jorts. How did Lindsay not know about an orange labor cat? What else could this civil rights lawyer have up his sleeve? That led to a "point five" date at the Denver Distillery. That led to a dinner date at a sushi place where the waiter insisted Scott had been there with a different woman the night before. (This ended up being one of the least random things this waiter has said on many return trips). That led to homemade pasta dates, custom cocktail dates, hiking trips to mountain towns, skiing, introducing cats and dogs, moving in, and buying chickens (Nicola Yolkic, Kentavious-Cluckwell Poultry, and Jamal Murray - the Denver Chicken Nuggets). While in Oakland last fall for a charity event, a ring was bought. Scott put it on Lindsay's finger in the Sandia Mountains outside of Albuquerque and Lindsay returned the marriage request at the bar of their favorite restaurant, with an original drawing by one of Scott's favorite comic book artists. Luckily it was a yes for the union all around. Now we are getting married in our favorite mountain/ski town, Steamboat Springs. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
