Great question! This is a rather unique event so may be confusing. There are many ways to participate. If you want, you can skin up the hill with us. We'll meet at the base at 6:30PM to go up. You can rent uphill equipment from Black Mountain if you don't have any. We will skin up (moderate challenge) to the chalet midway point and share a bottle of champagne with whoever makes it, then ski down. Bring light-up gear if you have it! If you don't ski that's totally fine. There's a bar at the base lodge where we'll be convening afterwards. Feel free to meet us there for drinks, catching up, and maybe some live music! We'll likely be hanging out there from 8pm until they close.
March in NH can be a tricky one, and our ceremony will be outdoors rain or shine :O We ask that all our guests dress semi-formal but keep the weather in mind. You are encouraged to wear boots and winter coats or raincoats as needed to stay warm/dry, and are welcome to change between the ceremony and reception. The reception venue is attached to the Whitney Inn so there are plenty of options for changing or storing clothes if you need. Our wedding party will be wearing green/black/white so feel free to ask people in those colors for directions on where to go. All other weekend events will be casual.
Unfortunately our reception venue is a little tight on space so we don't have space for all our loved ones and their kids at the reception. But you are more than welcome to bring your kiddos to the ceremony and encouraged to have them join for the family friendly ski day on Sunday! There will be an intermission/cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception which would be the best chance to drop kids off and get ready to party! If you're not local to the area and would like some help finding child care please don't hesitate to reach out to Meaghan or Henry and we can help.
No! We know a lot of our favorite people don't ski, and this is a day for everyone to enjoy and recover. We have booked two slope-side Airbnbs on Black Mountain for people to stop in as they can and grab some food/drinks, relax, and chat. There are also hot tubs here so bring a bathing suit and chill while you heckle the skiers going by! Address is 19 High Pastures West Road, Jackson NH.
Technically Portland Airport is the closest, so if you're looking for the shortest drive that's a great option. Otherwise for cost savings, check Manchester Airport or Boston Logan.
Coming from major cities and airports, the best option is to drive. However, if you don't drive there is an option to take a bus from Boston straight to Jackson NH via Concord Coach Lines. (Check out their website for more info: https://concordcoachlines.com/) If you'd like some help with more information or coordinating a ride from the bus stop, please don't hesitate to reach out to Meaghan or Henry.
