We love walking around Dock Square. You'll find quintessential New England shops, galleries, and delicious restaurants. Alisson’s is Kennebunkport’s neighborhood pub and casual eatery. Grab a table on their second-floor for lunch and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Dock Square. The Clam Shack on the bridge has been serving up fresh, Maine lobster and delicious fried seafood since 1968. Order at the window and enjoy a delicious mid-day snack while overlooking the Kennebunk River.
Brittany gifted Chris a lobster tour with Rugosa one year for Christmas! Turns out, they depart right at The Nonantum Resort. In a fun-filled trip, you will take a scenic tour of the Kennebunk River, enjoy the beautiful coastline, and join in to haul their lobster traps or shuck oysters.
We may be biased, but New England beaches are just the best! Spend some time relaxing under the sun, swimming, or exploring the tide pools at low tide (something Chris can never skip!).
The Spirit of Massachusetts is a 125-foot schooner built at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard (where Chris works back home in Boston!). Her launch in 1984 was celebrated in Boston Harbor with a tall ship festival that welcomed over 80 tall ships from all over the world. In 2014 The Spirit of Massachusetts was restored and brought to her new home in Kennebunk, ME. The restaurant is now open serving cocktails and small plates!
If you're looking for a more relaxing adventure on the water, book a sailing tour on the Schooner Eleanor to journey down the historic Kennebunk River and enjoy the views alongside the rugged shores of Cape Arundel to the islands of Cape Porpoise.
If you're like us, you may love a good museum moment! The Seashore Trolley Museum is the world's first and largest electric railway museum with a world-class collection of 320+ transit vehicles! Ride antique streetcars on a private heritage railroad, view live streetcar restorations, and enjoy several hiking trails.
Ocean Avenue is a 2-mile route between Dock Square and Cape Porpoise where you can take in the beauty of the ocean, nearby yachts, architecturally stunning summer homes, and historic churches. The Bush Family Compound, also known as Walker’s Point Estate, is a very popular historic site along Ocean Avenue. This estate has been in the Bush family for more than a century and is still in use today! Ocean Avenue is also a wonderful area to catch the sunset (something Brittany can't miss!) before heading back into town.
Cape Porpoise is small fishing village along the coast that offers a nice escape from busy Dock Square. Head to the harbor to get great views of fishing boats and the Goat Island Lighthouse.
