Matt Babare

Best Man

When I think about my friendship with Matt, my mind is flooded with images of airsoft guns, the band Vendetta Red, lessons on self-purging and Marty and Evelyn’s adamant disapproval. Matt and I have been friends for over 20 years. We met at CWA, hung out there for a bit, then he left but we stayed close friends. And we have continued to remain close friends. Matt and I have rarely been in the exact same place at the same time since our school years. However, despite the distance, one thing has never changed: this dude cares. Moreover, Matt doesn’t shy away from showing how much he cares. I have the kissy-face emojis to prove it. He's always been a strong supporter of Courtney and my relationship and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better person in this world.

Amanda Cave

Maid of Honor

Amanda and I met in 6th grade (20 years ago!!) when she started at Charles Wright. While I was living in Los Angeles in 2006-2007, I frequently drove to Tempe, AZ to spend the weekend sleeping on the floor of Amanda's dorm room, but I didn't mind because time with her was always the best of times! We lived together in Seattle from 2007-2008 and had two cats (baby girl and dita) and a few beta fish that we loved dearly. Amanda has driven across the country with me twice, she is always there to give advice and support when I feel lost, and she is one of the most generous, genuine people I've ever met. Amanda is a pilot and inspires me through her hard work and dedication. I feel honored to call her my best friend and even more honored to call her my maid of honor!

Lindsey McFerran

Groomswoman

Lindsey was my first real friend in life. When we were young, we could usually be found building some sort of hair-brained flying machine in our backyard and fighting over who would get to be the pilot. As time went on, this competition continued. Who’s the fastest? Who’s better at basketball? (Lindsey.) Who’s better at breaking their arm on a makeshift rollerblade jump? (also Lindsey.) However, despite the competition, Lindsey has been an immensely positive force in my life. We spent years living together during and after our college years, teaching each other about adulthood, annoying one-another and, ultimately, being constantly reminded about the irritating importance of having a great sibling. I could truly never ask for a better sister.

Taylor Brown

Bridesmaid

Taylor and I met through Amanda Cave, and once we met we immediately knew we were going to be friends. Taylor is the kind of person that makes you feel a part of her family the moment meet her. I love her mom and grandma (almost) as much as her, and she has three beautiful children with her husband Evan Brown. Taylor is a talented makeup artist, a supermom, and is someone I truly admire. I love her so much and am lucky to call a best friend and bridesmaid!

Matt Link

Groomsman

Some of my fondest memories from the last 31 years include Matt. Like the other groomsmen, I met Matt at CWA and we have been friends for over 20 years. Matt and I been through a lot during these years, including a lot of firsts. I recall acting as a chauffeur to Matt and his first girlfriend, as well as playing a critical role in Matt’s first any only suspension from high school (Sorry Debbie!). We’ve stayed close friends as we’ve grown older. And, as I’ve watched Matt mature by pursuing a career in law, marrying a wonderful person of his own, buying his first house and becoming a proud dog owner, he has also developed into a wise and solid figure in my life that I can always look to for guidance.

Anna Dunn

Bridesmaid

Anna is my little sister and we met when she was born in 1993. As a 5 year old, I didn't take a liking to having a new addition to the family but as she grew, I realized that I completely adored her. Anna and I have been through tough times together but I'm lucky to have someone I can fully be myself with and who supports me through those hard times. While Ryan and I were living in both Japan and DC, Anna came to visit, and in 2017, the two of us took a month long road trip to San Diego and back, which drew us closer than ever before. Anna lives with her boyfriend Regan and her (fat) cat Harry. We enjoy playing World of Warcraft together, as we have been for the past 15 years. Anna is so precious and invaluable to me, and I can't imagine life without her by my side. I love you Doe!

David Parker

Groomsman

In the same way I first encountered Courtney, I first met David when I transferred to CWA in 4th grade. Many of my interactions with him during our time in school together were through sports. Anyone who knows David knows that he’s a superstar on the field, diamond and court. While you could find him scoring baskets and hitting homeruns, you could probably find me missing kicks and tripping over my feet. We were largely teammates during this early period of our lives, but David and I have grown closer since becoming adults. He has taken his athletic prowess and turned it into a career and David is now someone that I consider a great friend of mine. He has been and continues to be a constant positive presence in my life.

Dana Lueck-Mammen

Bridesmaid

Dana and I met when we were in 6th grade at Charles Wright. Dana is a successful, hard working lawyer in the Silicon Valley, CA and has been a dear friend to both Ryan and I for the last 20 years. Dana has always been a present, encouraging and caring friend who even if we don't talk for months at a time, always picks up where we left off and is supportive in every way possible. My favorite memory of Dana is when she visited me while I was living in London. She flew in for the weekend while she was studying in Copenhagen and we decided to visit the London Dungeon for the afternoon. To this day, we still laugh about the memories made there, and also enjoyed looking for bars that were open past midnight (fat chance in London!). I am so honored to have Dana as a best friend and bridesmaid.

Penny Lindberg-McFerrran

Puppy of Honor

Figgy "Bobo" Linderg-McFerran

Kitty of Honor

Marie Rutherford

Officiant

I met Marie Rutherford while working at The Whale Wins in Seattle from 2014-2016. Marie was was the Chef de Cuisine and was my boss during my time at The Whale. Not only is she an inspiration as a chef, she is also a rare and remarkable friend. Beyond our time as co-workers, Marie has been a rock for me through hard times and has inspired me in times where I've felt defeated. She is hardworking, fearless, determined and strong; all characteristics I try to hone in myself, and feel they rub off on me when I'm in her presence. Marie is also a beautiful poet, artist, and philosophical thinker and I feel such gratitude knowing I have her in my life. Ryan and I feel privileged to have her as the officiant at our wedding.
