POSTPONING TO SUMMER 2021

Hey Everyone, Courtney and I have made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding until Summer 2021. This is not a choice that we took lightly, as we understand that many of you have already invested time and money into ensuring that you can be present and accounted for on our big day and will now need to change plans. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Please know that we have made the decision to postpone with the health and wellbeing of all of our guests in mind. The threat of COVID-19 has not rescinded to the point that Courtney and I had hoped it would by this time and, with concerns of its resurgence growing, we cannot in good conscience bring the people we love most in this world together to put each other at risk. Furthermore, with the introduction of the mask mandate and additional guidance on COVID-era weddings that largely precludes dancing, singing and general merriment, we believe that, if we were to go forward, the nature of our celebration would be fundamentally altered to the point that it would not end up as the fun, free-spirit exercise in laissez-faire debauchery that we want it to be. We want you safe, we want you inebriated and we want it no other way. Period. Despite the viral interruption, Courtney and I are excited to announce our new wedding date: August 21, 2021. Although we now have over a year to wait, we still can’t wait to see you all there next summer!

6/4/20: IMPORTANT NOTICE - FERRY RESERVATIONS

Please be sure to reserve a ferry for your trips to and from Orcas Island! The San Juan Islands are very busy during Summer weekends and it is very important to book your spot in advance. Reservations can be made at https://secureapps.wsdot.wa.gov/Ferries/Reservations/Vehicle/default.aspx.

Update 5/19/20: We're Moving Forward!

Hi Everyone! Given the current state of the world, you surely have been waiting with bated breath to find out what is happening with our wedding. As of the date of this announcement, we are still planning to move forward with our August 22, 2020 wedding date. San Juan County—where the event will take place—has been given to go-ahead to begin to move towards phase two of reopening. Due to this development, we feel comfortable that the county will be well into or beyond phase three by the end of August. Additionally, as our guest list was relatively small to begin with (about 50 people), we do not plan to limit the number of attendees. We love you all and want each and every one of you to be there! Please know that we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide additional updates if our current plan has to change. Just like all of the major car companies, we care about the health and safety of our guests deeply and want to offer you all 0% interest and no payments for the next 120 days…wait, no…umm, what we mean is we want to keep you all Rona-free. If anyone has any concerns, please feel free to contact either of us at the information below. Lastly, for those of you who have not yet secured lodging, we have both (both!) a blow-up mattress and a camping hammock that you can totally borrow. Alternatively, there are beds available in the houses that we have reserved for the wedding party. Please reach out if you are in need! We can’t wait to see you all in August! A Tail of Two Tarriers

Ryan and Courtney's story began a long time ago when Ryan first started at Charles Wright in the 4th grade. He began his CWA tenure bright-eyed, big-eared and unsure of what to expect at his new school and quickly encountered Courtney, who was already ordained as the leader of the cool girls. However, their romance would not begin for many years to come. Ryan and Courtney's connection waxed and waned throughout their respective careers at CWA. Sharing the same 7th-grade advisor, they learned little bits and pieces about each other within the protection of Mr. K's cocoon. And, while they would sometimes find each other at school dances to, together, investigate universal mysteries such as the question of whom had released a deluge of K9s that defined the landscape of pop culture at the time, Ryan and Courtney's bond remained tenuous. This all changed, though, in 2011. At the time, both Ryan and Courtney had recently returned to their native Washington for other corners of the US. Coming back together through the company of mutual friends, Ryan found something in Courtney that he had never noticed before. While she had relinquished her claim to the cool-girl throne long before, he discovered her to be quite the cool-girl still. And, although it took some time over multiple cities, states, countries, occupations and ambitions, Ryan eventually made Courtney the coolest girl in the world when he asked her to be his wife. #MeetTheMcFerrans
