SPEECHES and TOASTMASTER It is traditional for Danish weddings to have plenty of speeches and songs which are hosted by a Toastmaster. The role of the Toastmaster is to ensure that they are planned throughout the evening. While we appreciate the thought behind these, we kindly ask that no songs are prepared, but speeches are welcome. If you wish to make a speech, please contact (no later than August 10th): Mette Marie Møller Mobile: +45 29 68 69 32 Email: mettemarie.moller@bain.com THE WEDDING KISSES Anytime the wedding guests tap their knives on their plates, the newlyweds are supposed to stand on a chair to kiss; if someone starts stamping their feet, the rest of the company joins in and the couple have to crawl under a table to have a quick smooch. Additionally, if the groom chooses to leave the room at any point, male guests see this as their cue to kiss the new bride. The same goes if the bride should leave the room, female guests see this as their cue to kiss the groom THE BRUDEVAL / WEDDING WALTZ The most romantic part of the evening, the waltz must take place before midnight. As the couple dance the guests clap and get closer and closer to the newlyweds until they are totally surrounded and share another kiss. THE SOCK CUTTING After the waltz the groom is hoisted into the air by all his friends and one of his socks is cut off, symbolising the fact that he can no longer wander.

MONEY DANCE The Money Dance is also known as the Dollar Dance or the Apron Dance. No matter what you choose to call it, this tradition is a fun one that many cultures choose to include during the reception. The DJ will ask the men and women to form two separate lines, grab a pin and wait their turn to pin money and dance with the bride and/or groom. The money received during the dances is perceived as a sign of good fortune, while also financial assistance as they begin their journey as husband and wife.
