Palace of Holyroodhouse

Palace of Holyroodhouse

Canongate, Scotland EH8 8DX, United Kingdom

Book tickets in advance. This is one of Jamie's favorite parts of Edinburgh. The Palace still functions as a royal palace with some of the most amazing art and architecture inside. We highly recommend the self guided audio tour.

Calton Hill

Calton Hill

Scotland EH7 5BN, United Kingdom

Have a wee walk up Calton Hill. A bit easier than Author's Seat, with the most wonderous panoramic views of the city with a bit of history atop as well.

Edinburgh Farmers' Market

Edinburgh Farmers' Market

Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 2EN, United Kingdom

The farmer's market is open 9AM-2PM on Saturdays! Has a great selection of Scottish cheeses, treats, produce, knitwear, etc. A great experience right at the base of Edinburgh Castle.

Hike Arthur's Seat

Hike Arthur's Seat

Scotland EH15 3PY, United Kingdom

One of Max's favorite parts of the city. A lovely walk up an extinct volcano with marvelous views of the city and the Firth of Forth. Make sure to wear proper sneakers for this hike. Different paths have different lengths and difficulty.

Victoria Street

Victoria Street

Victoria Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1, United Kingdom

One of the most iconic streets in Edinburgh. For Harry Potter fans, this is the street that inspired J.K. Rowling's 'Diagon Alley.' There are a few places to eat and some giftshops. Check out Isle of Skye Candle Co.!

Dean Village

Dean Village

Dean Path, Scotland EH4 3AY, United Kingdom

Have a walk through one of the most charming neighborhoods in Edinburgh, and it's free to do so! Another one of Jamie's favorite parts of the city, truly a sight to see. Easily accessible from Princes street.

Johnnie Walker Princes Street

Johnnie Walker Princes Street

145 Princes Street, Scotland EH2 4BL, United Kingdom

Johnnie Walker Whiskey offers immersive tastings, rooftop bars, views of Edinburgh Castle, cocktails, locally sourced cuisine, and Michelin-starred whisky and food pairings on their tours.

National Galleries of Scotland: Portrait

National Galleries of Scotland: Portrait

1 Queen Street, Scotland EH2 1JD, United Kingdom

Free museum, great on a rainy day. Amazing portraits of Mary Queen of Scots!

Craigmillar Castle

Craigmillar Castle

Craigmillar Castle Road, Scotland EH16 4SY, United Kingdom

Craigmillar is a 1500s Scottish castle just a short bus ride outside of Edinburgh and definitely worth the trip. Buy tickets in advance or at the door. This castle also served as a filming location for the TV show 'Outlander'

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Scotland EH3 5NZ, United Kingdom

A botanical garden in the posh Stockbridge neighborhood of Edinburgh. Lots of antique stores and the famous 'The Gently Mad Book Shop & Bookbinder' are nearby. Right outside of the gardens is the Krem Karamel Cafe, one of the best cafes/bakeries in Edinburgh.
