FAQs

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

We will be collecting ONLINE only RSVPs for our wedding. Use this link to RSVP: https://www.zola.com/wedding/maxandjoy2025/rsvp (Or use the "RSVP" tab at the top of this website!)

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than April 8, 2025. If you know you can't make it, please indicate so as soon as possible.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

****Please arrive at the ceremony site no later than 4:15pm.**** As a reminder, the ceremony site is at Harkness State Park (275 Great Neck Rd, Waterford, CT 06385). There is a 5 minute downhill walk down to the Amphitheater, and a park staff member will guide you upon your arrival!

Question

What's the ceremony vibe: phones out, or away?

Answer

Thanks for asking! We aren't going to have a strict "unplugged" rule since we know it's fun to snap pictures of this special moment. All we request is that guests limit phone use--snap a picture here and there (or a short video!), and then put down your phones and soak in the moment with us. :)

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We kindly ask that our wedding remain an adults-only gathering. In the event of a truly extenuating circumstance; e.g. a newborn baby who cannot be separated from the mother, please contact us and we will try to accommodate. Thank you for helping us keep our wedding day moments together sacred and peaceful! :)

Question

Will there be a shuttle?

Answer

Since guests are staying at a range of hotels and AirBnbs, there will not be a shuttle TO the ceremony/reception. However, there will be one 50-person shuttle to the after-party and recommended hotel (Holiday Inn New London) AFTER the wedding reception concludes (10-10:15pm). We ask that you indicate in your RSVP whether you anticipate needing this shuttle service or have your own arrangements. There is a specific question asking about this, so make sure to update your RSVP accordingly.

Question

What about Ubers, Lyfts, and Taxis?

Answer

These are all a good option! Note that availability may be limited, so make sure to arrange your rides ahead of time and ride over EARLY! Remember, the ride is about 20 minutes, and guests need to arrive at the venue no later than 4:15pm. At the end of the night, if you'd like to get an Uber or Lyft back to your AirBnb/hotel, we recommend scheduling in advance as well. If you're worried about rideshare availability, consider carpooling with other guests. Reach out to Jill Reeves (jreeves4yoga@gmail.com, 301-250-6222) if you need help finding guests to carpool with, or general questions/concerns on transportation.

Question

How much time should I budget to get to the venue?

Answer

This will depend on where you're staying, but most lodging in New London (including our suggested hotel), is just under 20 minutes away from Harkness State Park. We encourage you to arrive at Harkness Park comfortably earlier than the 4:15pm cutoff to enjoy the park's lovely scenery and walking paths!

Question

Is there parking for the wedding?

Answer

Yes! The state park has plenty of free parking by the ceremony site. You can keep your car there during the reception. Also, anyone who needs to leave their car in the parking lot overnight is permitted to do so, as long as you can pick it up on Monday anytime after the park's opening at 8am!

Question

What are my food options? Will you be serving alcohol?

Answer

When you RSVP, you can indicate your meal preferences in a form we provide. We will serve cocktail hour appetizers followed by a plated salad and dinner. Then, cake and dancing! For drinking: we will have a selection of wines, beers, sparkling wines, and non-alcoholic beverages available, as well as coffee and tea, for you to help yourselves to.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes! Please indicate this in your RSVP and reach out to Jill Reeves (jreeves4yoga@gmail.com or 301-250-6222) if you have any special requests or concerns you were unable to note in your RSVP!

Question

What's your plus-one policy?

Answer

Our venue and caterer have strict limits on capacity, given that our venue is a historical site. In light of these limitations, we unfortunately cannot extend invitations for plus-ones. However, we are so excited to have our family and close friends joining us. We hope you enjoy meeting and getting to know each other!

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! You can find our registry under the “Registry” tab of our website.

Question

Where can I find photos after the event, or post them myself?

Answer

Our plan of action is to email our photographer's gallery out to all of you as soon as we get it (probably a couple weeks after the wedding). As for casual phone photos, we will have QR codes posted around your tables for easy photo uploading. You can use this link to add or view photos: https://weduploader.com/upload/FqR45hJEo5Cfqroh

Question

Is Joy changing her name?

Answer

Yes! Joy is delighted to take the name Joy Sano and merge two wonderful families.

Question

If I have further questions, who should I contact?

Answer

You can reach out to Jill Reeves (jreeves4yoga@gmail.com or 301-250-6222) with any further questions. Since she is the mother of the bride, we request that you get your concerns out of the way early on, so she can enjoy the wedding weekend!
