Welcome to sunny South Florida! We are excited for family and friends to join us in celebrating this major milestone in our union. Once again, welcome and we look forward to celebrating with you.
Who knew that a “booking inquiry,” would lead to a lifetime of happiness? When a mutual friend shared Jazmin’s new album, Forever Jaz, I took notice. I reached out to ask not only about the music but about the beautiful young woman behind the instrument. As fate would have it, she would play the Port-au-Prince Jazz festival at the same time this young officer would request a new assignment to Embassy Haiti. So, I wondered what it would take to connect. ~ Maurice reached out to say, "I saw you recently performed in Haiti. How did you like the experience? I’m considering recreating the festival." His message was professional, however tackling an international jazz festival seemed ambitious. By our second conversation, I realized he had been thinking of much more than just a performance. We loved speaking about our goals, dreams, and aspirations. Our calls progressed from a few days a week to daily; with our conversations lasting hours at a time. After months of a growing friendship, we decided to meet in person. ~ I flew into the country and drove hours to meet the woman I had spent the past several months getting to know. When we finally met, I was stunned by how beautiful she was in person. Her bubbly spirit and sense of adventure was refreshing. No matter the stop in our schedule we joked, laughed and learned together. It felt as if I had known her my entire life. We went everywhere for my birthday weekend. I was impressed that Maurice planned a whole itinerary and even included a dress code. Maurice is a true gentleman and charmer, and he showed me that he was serious about getting to know me. As time progressed, so did our love. I remember he did not believe I would visit him in Haiti; however, I did…and he somehow made riding in an armored vehicle feel romantic. ~ When Jazmin arrived at the airport in Haiti, I was beyond shocked. I knew she was bold. I didn’t think she would be “fly into the middle of a war zone just to see you” bold. With a suitcase full of gifts and an Instagram full of ideas, she transformed my bachelor pad into a home (complete with paper towels and peach cobbler from scratch). When I suggested we visit a hidden horse farm near base, guess who was the first to pick out her horse (even though she had never ridden before)? Her love of life sold me. Having her beside me that week, I knew I couldn’t ask for anything more in a partner. ~ Five countries, hundreds of roaming charges, and dozens of flights later, we would become inseparable. In August of 2022, we flew to Italy to celebrate Maurice’s birthday. I had come to expect his elaborate itineraries - but I had no clue that our hike through the mountains would take our story to new heights. ~ So there on a sunny morning on the Amalfi coast, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea…she said yes. And the rest has been history! These past two years have been nothing short of amazing, and we are thrilled to take our vows before God, family, and friends.
