FAQs

Below is a running list of questions we have received, and our answers. If you have any questions besides those listed below, please feel free to reach out to Maura at mreilly4@gwmail.gwu.edu or 914-494-4427!
Question

What is the attire for the wedding ceremony and reception?

Answer

Formal, please! What that means for women is anything from a floor- or tea-length gown, to a fancy cocktail dress, or dressy pantsuit. Men can wear a tuxedo, but it is not required; a nice suit, shirt, and tie would do just fine! Don't worry, we don't expect the jackets and ties to stay on all evening! ;) Since it will be September and our theme is loosely "golden age of baseball" and art deco-inspired, feel free to wear rich fall colors and jewel tones, including gold, bronze, rose gold, and silver. As far as we are concerned, the more vintage glitzy glam, the better!

Question

Are children allowed to attend the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Yes! Children of all ages are welcome to attend, as long as they are included in your RSVP. Cooperstown is a very child- and family-friendly place. There is plenty to do for the under 18 crowd, whether they like baseball or not!

Question

Is everyone really invited to the rehearsal dinner? What is the attire?

Answer

Yes, all wedding guests are invited to the rehearsal dinner at the Plaque Gallery in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum on Friday, September 16th. This event will include dinner as well as private access to the Museum and Gift Shop. If you will already be in Cooperstown, you won't want to miss it! Attire for the evening is cocktail. We invite you to represent your favorite baseball team through your attire (jersey, hat, pin, etc.).

Question

How do I know if I have a "plus one"?

Answer

If you received an invitation, you have a "plus one," even if not specifically noted. We want everyone to enjoy our wedding, and that starts with having a companion, if you so choose! Please just make sure to include your "plus one" when you RSVP.

Question

What about COVID?

Answer

We are monitoring the COVID situation closely, and do not expect to make major adjustments to our plans at this time. Both our ceremony and reception will be held indoors. Please take this into account when deciding on your RSVP. Masks are welcome to be worn at any and all times if you so choose. For the safety of all guests, we ask that you please monitor for symptoms and ensure you are COVID-negative before attending.

Question

Why do you need to know where we are staying?

Answer

We are providing trolley transportation on Friday night and Saturday via Leatherstocking Trolley. Because there is no one central hotel where guests are staying, we need to create a timed route, so knowing the headcounts at each hotel is a huge help! The finalized trolley route will be available in your welcome bags.

Question

I'm not Catholic. What do I need to know about your wedding ceremony?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony includes a full Catholic mass. We hope the sacred ceremony is enjoyable to all, Catholics and non-Catholics alike. There will be a full program for all to follow along with indications of when to stand, sit, and kneel.

Question

Will there be transport options to and from the ceremony, reception, and hotels?

Answer

We are providing trolley transportation on Friday night and Saturday via Leatherstocking Trolley. There will be a timed route stopping at all locations (hotels and AirBNBs) where guests are staying. The finalized trolley route will be available in your welcome bags.
