We request cocktail attire for wedding guests. Feel free to wear knee-length, midi, or maxi dresses, dressy separates, or a suit with a tie. Please refrain from denim and white attire with the exception of men’s dress shirts. The ground at Shoshone point is rocky and uneven, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Anyone who attempts to wear a Canadian tuxedo will be ejected into the canyon upon arrival.
Shoshone Point is located along the rim of Grand Canyon, and is accessible via a 1 mile trail that leads from a parking area along Desert View Drive. For directions to the parking area, see: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gbC9ypZ9BDZdmKjM7 Attendees may either park at the parking area and walk the 1 mile trail, or take a groomsmen-operated shuttle van to the point. For more information on getting to the point, visit: https://www.nps.gov/places/000/shoshone-point-parking-area.htm
There is one gas station just outside the park entrance in Tusayan - however, it is *notoriously* expensive, sitting at about $1 per gallon more than any other option. We highly recommend filling up in Flagstaff or Williams, and if necessary only getting as much gas as you need when in Tusayan.
There is a general store located both within the park and in the town of Tusayan, though options are somewhat limited (And pricey!) If you'd like to pick up groceries on the way to the park, there's a Safeway in the town of Williams (1 hour away from the park) and several grocery stores including a Sam's Club in Flagstaff (1.5 hours away).
The easiest option is to drive through the South Entrance Station and pay the $35 entrance fee (per vehicle, regardless of occupant) to enter the park. This entrance fee is good for 7 days, so hold on to your reciept! You can also purchase a park annual pass or lifetime senior pass when you arrive in the park. These passes cost $80, and can get you into any National Park in the United States! The senior pass is available for anyone over the age of 62.
