pop champagne, she's changing her last name!

It was November 2017. Lauren was in her senior year at The University of Michigan, and Matt was in his second year of Dental school at The University of Michigan. Neither intended to find their forever person when they got on Bumble. As is the case with their relationship (and the app), Lauren made the first move. Three and a half years later, they got engaged!

Getting anything past Lauren is a challenge. Matt perfectly planned and executed a multi-stage surprise for the proposal on 6/4/21. After months of planning and designing her dream ring, Matt got down on one knee in Dillon, CO. They were on their way to Vail for the weekend. Lauren had been told they had a dinner to go to as soon as they got there (to ensure she was dressed well and had her hair done). Lauren always drives, so Matt had to come up with an excuse to stop. “The dinner was pushed. It’s nice out. Let’s stop and walk Coco.” They had stopped there before, so Lauren thought nothing of it. They stopped, walked around for a minute, and the moment came when Lauren had turned away to admire the scenery. Lauren turned back around to see the ring of her dreams, and the man of her dreams on one knee! Pics or it didn’t happen! Well, fortunately, Matt had planned it all. Off in the distance, Matt had a photographer capturing the whole thing (surprise #2). But it doesn’t end there! When they got to Vail, Matt had Lauren’s family decorate the house (surprise #3). Lauren tried to FaceTime the Seiss family and got no answer; Lee, Ellen, and Marisa came downstairs and brought Lauren to tears! Matt had arranged for his family to be there as well for their big weekend (surprise #4). Last but not least, a reservation at the restaurant she had been dying to try (surprise #5). The Seiss and Siegel clans spent all weekend celebrating in Vail!

Six months into their relationship, Lauren graduated and their long distance relationship began. Matt began his third year of Dental school as Lauren moved to New York. There were lots of weekend trips back and forth and even a week long vacation to Punta Cana over their year of distance. In June of 2019, Lauren took a job in Ann Arbor to be closer to Matt during his last year of Dental school. In May of 2020, amidst a global pandemic, Matt graduated Dental school. Lauren took a new job in sales in Denver and Matt joined a dental practice in Denver. They drove cross-country from Michigan, settled into their first apartment together and got their dog, Coconut. Matt, Lauren, and Coconut now own a house in Littleton, CO, and can’t wait to be the Seiss family!
