We were assigned to the same project at work, based in Minnesota. We hadn’t met each other, but we were assigned to carpool together for the 4 hour drive from Madison. Matt told Lottie he had three pugs, and Lottie accidentally spent the whole drive adjusting the air on Matt’s side of the car because she didnt realize they were separate settings. They have talked every day since!
On January 23rd, Lottie asked Matt if they were an official couple. Matt responded by saying he’d already told his family and best friends about her, so it was a done deal. Lottie always said that their dating anniversary is easy to remember, because its 1/23, or “1 2 3”. Matt always said it was easy to remember because “Michael Jordan is number 23, but also number one”. It became a running joke, so when we saw that 2/3/23 was a Friday, it seemed like the perfect option.
Two weeks into quarantine we couldn’t resist getting a puppy, even though we told ourselves we’d wait until we’d lived together a few months. Phoebe joined the fam, and Lottie’s been her personal papparazzi ever since
After 4 weeks of attempts, we managed to buy a house that we’re slowly turning into our home!
On a date to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, Matt surprised Lottie and asked her to marry him - he’d even hired a photographer! He chose the botanical gardens because of our first vacation together to Arizona, where we loved the botanical gardens. When it was all said and done Lottie’s best friend and her husband were there as a second surprise to celebrate and get dinner.
Now you’re up to speed! We hope you’ll celebrate with us on February 3rd, 2023.
