The DC Metro connects both DCA and IAD to Old Town Alexandria and all of DC proper. The metro has an extensive system that is reliable and affordable. Be sure to buy a $2 SmartTrip card on your first ride and then just refill per trip as needed!

With Kelly being a Flight Attendant now, you know we can't leave you without our professional airport recs! While the DMV has three major airports: IAD Washington Dulles, BWI Baltimore, and DCA Reagan National, we highly recommend DCA for guests traveling by air. DCA is very close to our town as well as both the wedding venues. If you choose to fly, picking this airport allows you to avoid renting a car and to make use of the excellent public transit DC offers. If you fly into DCA, you can take the metro less than a ten-minute ride to Old Town Alexandria. Old Town has everything you could need within walking distance of the King Street Metro Station: things to do, restaurants, bars, activities, hotels, our apartment, and our wedding ceremony! Also, DC is only a twenty minute ride away! If you choose to fly into IAD, the metro is accessible as well - just a longer ride! It takes about an hour and twenty minutes on the Metro from IAD to King Street. If you need a cheaper option, BWI typically offers the cheapest flights, but the public transit to get to ALX is quite complicated and lengthy - let us know if you choose this option and would like our tips!

There are several hotel options in the Old Town neighborhood of Alexandria. The best options are hotels within walking distance of the King Street Metro station as well as the shops and restaurants on King Street and our ceremony venue, The Rectory on Princess. Matt and I recommend looking into Airbnb rentals in the Old Town neighborhood as they might offer a more comfortable, cost effective option for groups of our guests. Simply search 'Old Town Alexandria' on Airbnb.com We have reserved small room blocks at several hotels within walking distance of all necessary locations and encourage you to chose whatever is best for you and your family! There is no financial obligation to book at any one certain hotel, so please feel free to look up your own options and preferences, and consider choosing any of the hotels blocked or forgoing the hotel option and opting for a cozy Airbnb instead! Once again, there is no need or financial obligation to book with any specific hotel or link, but we wanted to provide options for our guests as well! The deadline to book a hotel with our blocked rates is September 19th, 2024.

It is a short five minute walk to the King Street metro, fifteen minutes walking to the ceremony venue, and right off the main King Street mile! The Sheraton is a ten minute walk from the Braddock Metro station which is also at the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Braddock is one stop from the King Street metro but is also walkable to the main area of town. This hotel is also only a ten minute walk to the ceremony venue! Note: When booking with this hotel, you will see a $50 destination fee on your quote. This fee will NOT be charged to your reservation and will be removed upon check-in.
