The DMV is the area that we live in. It is the collection of DC (D), Maryland (M), and Virginia (V). It is vast, but somehow still pretty close together.
We have three big airports here, you can fly into any of them easily and with good transportation options. Here are the options: DCA- Closest to our home in Alexandria; this is DC's main airport despite being in Virginia IAD- A bit further out into northern VA, but a larger airport and metro accessible BWI- Located outside of Baltimore, around 1 hr from DC proper but tends to be the cheapest
There's no easy way to say it... driving here is a huge pain. Traffic can get bad, and three miles can take 20 minutes! We recommend taking the Metro as much as possible. We are lucky the Metro is spread around the DMV and stays pretty cheap. If you must, a car rental will get you around (obviously), but we recommend downloading the "ParkMobile" app and double checking all parking signs.
