Bumble to Brew Fest to Boating and Beyond!

Dog Pack and all!

We met on Bumble at the end of May 2025 after both surviving the modern dating scene and all the stories that come with it. From the start, our texting chemistry was effortless. Lots of banter, flirting, and excitement leading up to our first date. Our first date was originally supposed to be June 6th, but Matt got mando’d at work (firefighter life), so we rescheduled to June 7th… aka 6-7, now our running joke/date anniversary reminder. We originally planned for dinner, but last minute switched it up and went to a Brew Fest in Historic Folsom after one of Kaylee’s friends had extra tickets. Beforehand, Matt offered to pick Kaylee up, which was a huge deal because she had NEVER let an online date pick her up before. Somehow, he immediately felt safe and easy to trust. The Brew Fest ended up being way smaller than expected and basically turned into a group date with friends and people Kaylee knew from the community. Matt rolled with all of it effortlessly. Afterward, neither of us wanted the night to end, so we walked hand in hand to dinner together. The chemistry was undeniable, and before the night ended, Matt made his move and gave us our last first kiss. Sparks were FLYING ;) Then we kept the date going by meeting friends at a local speakeasy where Matt charmed everyone and picked up the tab. By the end of the night, we both knew this felt different. Our second date was the very next day when Kaylee joined Matt boating with some of his buddies… another first for her! Then came date number three: a romantic picnic at Folsom Lake with our dogs, Stanley, Beans, and Tundra. Matt had everything planned perfectly: food, wine, country music, sunset views, and all the thoughtful details. Meanwhile, Kaylee showed up in full “hiking attire” while Matt looked dressed for a Pinterest date night. We still laugh about it. That night was really special because we later found out we both had the exact same thought during the picnic: “This could become something serious.” Neither of us said it out loud yet, but we both felt it. From there, we became inseparable (around our work schedules). We officially became a couple after our first rodeo together on July 5, 2025. Since then, we’ve built a relationship that feels easy, intentional, playful, faith-filled, and completely like home. We spend our time doing life together: church, Tahoe trips, boating, country concerts, breweries, camping, dog walks, gym dates, cooking together (mostly Matt), and laughing constantly. One of the sweetest full-circle moments in our story was our proposal. Matt proposed at a firefighter-themed brewery owned by one of Kaylee’s close friends... tying together the firefighter/brewery parts of our story perfectly. Kaylee thought she was going to girls night and almost didn’t even go because of work stress and an employee quitting that day. Meanwhile, all of our closest friends and family were secretly waiting there. Matt proposed on top of an antique fire engine while our song, “There’s the Sun” by Zach Top, played in the background. We both blacked out and barely remember what was said, but somehow it was still the most perfect moment ever. Once Kaylee finally realized all our family and friends were standing behind her cheering, the night turned into the best celebration full of pizza, drinks, laughter, tears, and SO much love. The best way we can describe our relationship is: Easy. Intentional. Home We can't wait for FOREVER together and our three fur babies!
