It is the easiest thing in the world for a man to look as if he had a great secret in him, well, it wasn't exactly a secret that Matt felt something for Katie from the moment he walked in to apply for a job with her (yep, she was his boss for like five months at The Whaling Museum). In the months to come, Matt and Katie grew closer. Going on sunset walks on the beach, watching The LEGO Movie, and meeting all the dogs (so many dogs) that Katie dogsat on our little island 30 miles out to sea. Thanks to Matt's persistence and Katie's eventual good sense, we became a couple in the midst of a wicked Nor'easter on February 15th, 2015. And then Matt's mom made bagels. Mmmm. There's a Nantucket bumper sticker that says something about moving there and falling in love and then staying there and, well, it definitely applies here. Nantucket meant more to us than just a place where we got a job or a place where we met some good friends. It became a place where we met the person we'd be spending the rest of our lives with. But alas, Nantucket is expensive! So we abandoned our incubator for America and its unimaginable riches. GO FORTH! We yelled. And go forth we did. To Springfield, Missouri--The Real America ©. In Springfield, we've found a home. We've overcome professional challenges, reached new career peaks and moved into our first home together, with each moment along that path forging us into a stronger couple and making us fall even more in love, all with Olympia by our side. Olympia, the most faithful of dogs. On August 4, 2019, Matt proposed to Katie at sunset under Oklahoma's beautiful Wichita Mountains...two people from opposite coasts saying "yes" smack dab in the middle. Then, we sat back and looked up at the stars as we had so many times on Nantucket over our years there. That's our story, and we can't wait to tie the knot in the place where it all began!
